Genre-defining sounds, even when they lie to us
Even when music is intended to deceive, it needs to be captioned if it’s instrumental to the genre.

His book, Reading Sounds: Closed-Captioned Media and Popular Culture, won the 2017 award for best book in technical or scientific communication from the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC). He teaches technical writing, web accessibility, disability studies, sound studies, and AI literacy.
